I am often asked to speak on pillows. If I recommend a pillow type or company with regards to neck health and / or headache. And, from personal experience, I do!
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation whatsoever with this company and do not receive any re-imbursement for products sold!
The 'My Pillow', as seen on the shopping channel.ca is a pillow that I have used since 2019. Why do I like it? Many reasons:
1. It supports me sufficiently – whether side lying or supine or semi-prone. I used to fold and bunch up pillows to get enough support- now I don’t need to!
2. It is light and airy: I have used larger, heavier pillows- would always win pillow fights! But now this lighter one is just easier to move about, when in bed, or making the bed. In fact, because it is so good, and light, I don’t hesitate to pack it when travelling for a number of days, by car anyway.
3. Lastly, but perhaps most important: along with being very comfortable- the pillow seems to facilitate a neutral neck posture: which is a slight concavity or lordosis. Not too big and not too small! As the story goes. At least for me. My wife I will add also uses it since 2019 and has no complaints about it. We have 2 kids and when we go to sleep, we need every minute, so quality of sleep is essential and it helps. So I believe it is generally preserving of neck posture.
The pillow is ordered by your shirt size, ie. the breadth of your shoulders and general size. It is activated or puffed up by putting in the dryer for 15 minutes. I used mine for over a year, have washed and dried it and it has maintained it’s shape.
There may be other pillows out there that are comparable, I can’t speak to all brands (pillows take space!) but I would recommend the above, if you are looking for a change, as it is also not particularly expensive, as far as pillows go.
